New Dues Payment System and Directory

We have migrated our online membership database to a new more flexible and easier to use system; for you, this means that next time you log in to the website, northamericanstation.orgyour old password will not be recognized and you will need to click on "Request Password" to receive a new password by email which will allow you to log in; you can then change that password if you like.

We will be issuing a hard copy member directory book later this year. As a first step in that process, please log in to your profile on the website to make sure your information is up to date. That information is what we will use in the directory.

While you are on the website, you can also pay your dues as needed. As a new feature, you can now elect on the website to have a recurring dues payment set up.

Committee Updates

Our Junior Exchange Committee has begun planning this year's program. If you are interested in hosting a Scandinavian junior sailor this summer, or know somebody who is interested, please contact me and Steve Ovren at [email protected] and [email protected]. Also, if you know a junior sailor (typically between 14 and 19 years old) who is interested in spending a week or two sailing at one of our Home Clubs in Scandinavia please also let me and Steve know.

Our Cruise Committee has been working on refining the plan for our 2026 Norway Cruise. In the coming weeks, you will receive an email with more information which will allow you to indicate your interest in participating.

Our Club Historian, Michael Geagan, has also been busy rebuilding our history. In the near future he will reach out to you in a separate email to request your assistance. In the meanwhile, please feel free to reach out to him at this email address: [email protected]

Do you have good candidates for NAS Membership? If so, please contact Palmer Sparkman, our Membership Chairman, by email at [email protected]The deadline for submitting candidates for election at the Spring Meeting is early April.

Save the Dates

Our Spring Clambake and Meeting will again this year be hosted by David Tunick at his home on Shippan Point in Stamford. To avoid overlap with the Annapolis-Newport Race, the clambake and meeting will take place one week earlier than usual, on Saturday May 31. Please mark your calendar. Details to follow.

The second week of July we will host the Atlantic Round and Five Club regattas in Newport. The committee is already hard at work with the planning but if you are interested in getting involved in helping out, please send me an email at [email protected]. It is always a fun event, and we hope to welcome a team from each of our Home Clubs.

And of course, on the first Friday of December we will, as every year, hold our Annual Meeting and Christmas Dinner at the NYYC on 44th Street in Manhattan. This year it will be Friday December 5. Please mark your calendar if you haven't already.

Meanwhile, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you would like to get more involved or have ideas for new opportunities for our Station. My email is [email protected].

In closing, I would be remiss not to mention our Station's motto, the ancient Phoenician proverb: "The Gods do not deduct from Man's allotted span those hours spent in sailing".

Yours,
Ove
