Since 1993 this annual regatta is held in America every third year and in the off years at one of the Scandinavian clubs. This event was named The Atlantic Round (“TAR”) in honor of the original 1978 event.

The Atlantic Round was first held in 1978. In 1991, an effort to establish more contact with the Home Clubs resulted in the plans for an annual regatta to be held in America every third year and in the off years in one of the Scandinavian countries. It was named The Atlantic Round in honor of the first event. The first annual “TAR,” as it has become affectionately known, was held in 1993 at the Stamford and Noroton Yacht Clubs. Since then it has become a mainstay of the summer season.
