The Peter Minton Ward Trophy

The Peter Minton Ward Trophy was donated to the The North American Station of the Royal Scandinavian Yacht Clubs and Nyländska Jaktklubben (NAS) in 2021 on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary celebration, in memory of Peter Minton Ward by his family and members of the North American Station.

Peter loved traveling and sailing in Scandinavia. He joined the NAS in 1956, not long after his transatlantic trip in June 1955 on Arabella with NAS founding member, Pehr Sparre. He dedicated more than 60 years to the NAS, serving in several positions, including twice as Post Captain. He created opportunities for young and not so young to sail together in the US and Scandinavia. His dedication and efforts helped the NAS grow into the organization it is today.

The Peter Minton Ward Trophy is presented to the person who is also dedicated to the station, exemplifies a love for sailing in Scandinavia, and furthers existing and/or new and exciting sailing opportunities for the future of the station.

The trophy is awarded at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
