- Secretary Roos confirmed the presence of a quorum and presented the minutes from the Spring Meeting on June 5, 2021. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the Annual Meeting waived reading of the minutes and approved them.
- PC Orem reported that 2022 will be an active year for the NAS with the planned 5C/TAR Regatta in Newport in August. He also reported that we have 125 members/guests at tonight’s Christmas Dinner Dance including four of our five Home Club Commodores.

- Treasurer’s Report, by Jennifer Bowden and Kathleen O’Donnell.
- Our new Treasurer Kathleen O’Donnell was introduced. Kathleen lives in Boston and is a very experienced sailor. She is currently also the Treasurer for the Boston Station of the CCA and will soon take over the Treasurer position for the whole CCA.
- Our financial situation is strong. Cash on hand is approximately $146,000 which is $30,000 more than last year. Due to pandemic restrictions and cancellations, 2021 and 2020 expenses have been significantly lower than anticipated and those of prior years. Fundraising is proceeding well.
- Collecting dues continues to be a challenge. Currently we have 30 delinquencies.

- Five Club Regatta and Junior Exchange: PC Orem reported that the Five Club Regatta will also be hosted by the NAS in Newport in early August. The final dates for 5C are still open due to challenges with housing in Newport and the timing of when the schools in Denmark and Finland start. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we didn’t have any junior exchange activities in 2021. In 2022 we plan to reactivate the program. Members interested in hosting Scandinavian juniors should contact Ms. Angelica Almlid Barrows and PC Nick Orem.
- Home Club reports:
GKSS – Commodore Robert Casselbrant reporting. Relatively low level of activities in 2021 due to the pandemic. The main event in 2021 was organizing the Dragon Gold Cup in Marstrand. The club had two teams at the Olympics. In 2022 activities will pick up. Mr. Casselbrant will step down after 12 years as the Commodore of GKSS.
KDY – Commodore Carl Erik Kjærsgaard reporting. Despite the pandemic, membership grew 7% in 2021. KDY also had 2 teams at the Olympics. Plan to take full ownership of one of their two harbors. In 2021 KDY hosted both the J-80 World Cup and the J-70 European Championship. Lots of emphasis on sustainability in their regattas. They are also putting a lot of effort into their foiling center.
KNS – Commodore Nils Klippenberg reporting. Due to the pandemic KNS also had to cancel many regattas, including the planned TAR/5C Regatta. Their membership is also growing and now sitting at 4400 members. KNS had 5 sailors in the Olympics with one bronze medal. In 2022 they will host the 5.5 Metre Gold Cup and the World Cup for Offshore Racing. KNS will have their grand opening of the new marina in Oslo with 650 slips.
KSSS – Commodore Patrik Salén reporting. During the pandemic KSSS put a lot of emphasis on “digital sailing”. 2021 was fortunately a relatively normal year including hosting the Gotland Runt race again. KSSS was very successful at the Olympics and received two silver medals (470 and Laser Radial). They are building a new permanent port in downtown Stockholm (Djurgården). In 2022 they plan to organize some regattas in Nynäshamn due to space constraint at Sandhamn. In 2030 KSSS will celebrate its 200th Anniversary.
NJK – Henrik Roos reporting. In 2021 sailing activities resumed to relatively normal levels with hosting the 12 Metre World Cup being the main event. The main theme for 2022 is the future of the club. Lots of emphasis will continue to be put on Junior training. NJK has 10 island harbors in the Finnish archipelago, and they need to be in ship shape for the members. The club will also focus on a couple of their elite sailors to make them ready for the 2024 Olympics in France.
- 2023 New England Cruise: Chase Anderson reported that no major changes to dates or itinerary. 37 boats and 155 sailors have already signed up. One third of the participants are from the Home Clubs. Next steps are discussions with a couple of charter companies in Newport, trying to sign up Arabella as the mother ship and exploring moorings and places to anchor. The deposits of $600 per person are due in January 2022.
